Day three on the road
Another biggie today- early morning start ( for us!)! found a very fresh baguette for brekky… still no coffee tho! Perhaps we were too early for coffee…we did see a few options yesterday arvo. Oh well…

Off we go… Thailand here we come. A pretty speccy backdrop for our ride but some trepidation…we have to get to the other side…

Just a short 15 km to the border…but boy oh boy, a tad too much elevation for my liking!
Easy border crossing…and a huge difference on the other side. Gone are the roadside stalls every couple of hundred metres- we might need to think a bit more about our water supply! Very picturesque as we descended, and finally found a coffee (yay!!)

Stopped for an ATM and some lunch somewhere along the way… language barrier overcome with the aid of Google translate – who knew it had a camera scan option!! Lifesaver…. Still didn’t exactly know what was going to turn up though, and the unexpected ( and complimentary) bone broth was possibly the most delicious ever 🙂
Figured out the art of saying thank you in Thai…and off we go again!
Had to stop and watch this guy trimming his rice paddock… bit better than a scythe!
It really was a lovely day of cycling through the countryside.

Stopped for the night just short of Sangkha, blew the budget a bit with a $25AU room ( yep!) with a balcony, a lovely view…and a pool 😌
Just up the road we found a little eatery, run by a British guy and his wife Penn- great food and good for a chat! “Steve’s fishing”…as good a name as any for a Thai venture in the middle of nowhere!
And nice to sit and watch the rain fall down for a while before calling it a night.
