Day 7 Roi Et to Yang Talat

Day 7 on the road, 75 km

First accomm that’s included breakfast so we slept in till 6:30 and started the day with cold eggs and rice ( and sugar…cos it looked like salt…) And instant coffee!! Win win.

We rode.

So…we’ve been planning our daily itinerary using a couple of cycle mapping apps. I like “Komoot”, it’s great for avoiding highways and taking us on lesser travelled paths. Perhaps it also avoids town centres and therefore food and rest stops…much to Neil’s chagrin…

He has a different app- maps.me or something like that, which only seems to kick in when there is a highway nearby… could be because he is too stingy to subscribe, so is limited to the crappy free version ( his words!)

So we’ve had a couple of differences of opinion as to which way looks best on route 🤣. Combine this with our phones blacking out and refusing to work in the heat and it serves to add a few km to the journey…but we traversed some lovely countryside today…with a few goat tracks thrown in.

A lovely Thai lady practiced her minimal English on us around lunch time, and after feed of of pork, rice and a mystery broth, we finished the day to Yang Talat and found a peaceful spot on a little lake, quite idyllic.

A couple of running repairs… and a spare tube down , hopefully we can find another one tomorrow 🤞

Then a lovely dinner of snakehead fish while we watched the rain tumble down! We’ve been extraordinarily lucky ( so far!!) with pretty much all of the ( very heavy) rain at night. Yet to get caught in a thunderstorm…probably have jinxed us now…
