Waterfalls!

Erawan National Park…

A couple of days out and back to check out the renowned Erawan Falls…didn’t disappoint!

We ummed and ahhed a bit and thought about grabbing a “taxi” or a moto out to the falls, just under 70km west of Kanchanaburi, but decided to make it a two day adventure and hopped on our bikes again 🙂

Headwind all the way out and a horribly steep hill to finish the ride but we set up our tent on a lovely grassy area by the river ( along with several other Thai campers making the most of the hot weekend)

Had time for a quick look and swim at the first two waterfall tiers before closing time… people soup, orange life jacks galore and officials on whistles rounding everyone up and sending them out of the water for the day…

We came back a little later as darkness approached- so lovely to see the same falls without the people!

A very hot night in the tent, we set off just before opening time time and trekked up to the 7th tier of waterfall- all to ourselves and every tier as beautiful as the next. Magical swim in the top tier ( you could swim in all of them!) and complimentary fish pedicure whether you want it or not…

And a few encounters with whatever these large lizards are…quiet, shy and happy to move on at the sight of humans…

The first of the crowds started to appear just as we were ready to leave…good timing. By the time we got back to the lower levels the bus loads were there in force.

An easyish ride back to Kanchanaburi with the wind behind us and a little cheap guesthouse right on the river with great food, great position and an ok room!!
