Ocean!

Over 2500 km and we’ve seen the ocean for the first time since leaving home 🙂

Kind of nice to be back on a beach!

A leisurely three day trip from Kanchanaburi…

day 35 on the road…around 72 km and not too much “up”

A pretty easy ride and we stopped at what looked like a lovely spot on the river…titled “Tara Coffee” with the promise of coffee any way you like it…

Turns out that not only was coffee difficult to come by ( a spoonful of instant got us by for breakfast 😃) but beer also seemed to be frowned upon. Add to that the weirdest room setup we’ve ever seen and the need to try and shut out to sewer smell…and we probably won’t worry about leaving a review for this one! Nice location though…beautiful spot on the river’s edge.

Day 36 to Petchaburi…68km

A slower than anticipated start to the day with our first puncture…

Then a smooth and easy ride ( made a little more challenging by Neil’s determination to achieve a 20km p/h average …won’t be falling for that trick again!!)

Petchaburi- an unexpected and wonderful place, with a cheap little guesthouse whose hospitality excelled 👍

Day 37 to Hua Hin

A pretty impressive bike lane for a lot of the way…although it did get a bit monotonous. Thankfully we managed to get a bit lost at one point and ended up on some random dirt tracks to add a bit of interest to the day!

A mostly slower and more sensible pace, stopping to enjoy the beach views from various vantage points

And now we’re in the metropolis of Hua Hin… a bit of everything here!

Fabulous seafood…so fresh you can practically see it being caught. And delicious 👌

Beaches are great and swimmable…

Not at all difficult to find a beer… or a westerner… and a fascinating but cringeworthy stroll through a section of the town clearly dedicated to the myriads of middle aged western men looking to hook up with a Thai lady.

But it’s a great place to stop, relax, eat, swim, maybe do a little more riding around before we pack up and head home in a few days.
