Winter in Tassie…the perfect time to disappear for a little while to somewhere we can complain about the heat… Although this week the Far South of Tas has put on some lovely Spring sunshine so really, there’s nothing to grizzle about here either!

We’ve been contemplating this year’s cycle touring escapade for a while, but with plenty happening on the home front we left it to the last minute to actually decide where we’ll head. Returning to a part time role at Essentially Tas meant a bit of re-defining to (try and!) make sure we’ll have some kind of consistent connectivity while we’re away. The plus side to that is we might also avoid some of those mountains which Neil did have set his sights set on in the early planning stages. Phew.😌
So with around two weeks to go we settled on a starting point of Sri Lanka, with onward flights to the South of India and then some city that neither of us will ever be able to pronounce but it looks like this: Thiruvananthapuram. Yup.
Nothing like a solid dose of last minute COVID to make sure we are really under-fit to start off our travels…and neither of us have been on the bikes for a month or so, ah well. Surely it can only improve from there?
And tomorrow we’re off, hoping that the bikes make it to the same place we do and looking forward to whatever comes next. We’ll keep you posted…so to speak!

P.S. sorry about the adverts…we’re too stingy to pay to get rid of those…
