17th July…on the road
Training wheels are off…let’s go! Armed with some very basic Khmer ( and a list of “must have” phrases, thanks Socheata), last minute bike checks, and we’re ready to fly the nest 😀

Early morning coffee and toast at Chanthou’s (I fear it may be the last coffee for a while but I live in hope!)
A quick goodbye to Socheata and the kids at Wat Damnak where Socheata prepares food daily for the school kids.
Then we’re off!
The first 30 ish km we’re pretty easy, it’s flat, the morning was overcast and we’re treated to a few sections with tailwind so it didn’t take too long to get to Bantey Srey. Lovely to ride around through the temples on our way way out of Siem Reap. Banana pancakes hit the spot, then onwards to Srey Noi.
Past Kulen Mountain again, a beautiful section to traverse!

Quite a few log trucks on the road today…made us feel right at home!

It was a bit hotter and sunnier in the afternoon, so a couple more drink stops needed before we arrived at todays resting spot. I think the 68 km distance is about my limit in this heat…
Found a room “with cold machine” for $12.50 US and perfectly happy with that! Dinner was a little more difficult, both with slightly delicate tummies and a bit of a challenge to find something appealing…but the pancake man came to our rescue and we grabbed some roasted Pork to go with them…sorted. The pork guy also sold us some beer…which was greatly appreciated 🙂

A wander around the markets and a very early night ready for whatever tomorrow brings!

This was yesterday now… but Internet was patchy at best in Srey Noi so here you go!
